Builders of the Impossible
Join a company that is reinventing insurance, and the way we work.
Where we come from
Born out of La Parisienne Assurances, Wakam is a European digital insurer built on a 100% B2B2C model, a digital platform through which partners distribute our products to their end customers.
What does that look like in practice? You rent an e-scooter and you're already insured without even thinking about it. That's our Play&Plug platform at work: an API suite that distributes our products across 30 countries in Europe and in the UK and manages the entire lifecycle of a policy.
Today, Wakam means 350+ active partnerships, a place in the CNBC 2026 World's Top Fintech Companies ranking, and two regulated entities in Paris and London.
We're not disrupting insurance from the outside. We are the insurer, just built differently.

Why we do it
In March 2021, Wakam became a mission-driven company. Enshrined in our articles of association, our purpose: making insurance transparent and impactful. In practice, this translates into three commitments:
Plain language
Our contracts are written to be understood by everyone. No more jargon, just clarity.
Wakam for Good
Our endowment fund supports people in situations of financial and psychological vulnerability. We chose to go further by focusing on precision psychiatry: that is the entire purpose of the Precision Mind Award (more info)
Fair value distribution
Between partners, clients and employees. A fair balance, without compromise.

Nearly half our team works fully remote, across 11 countries. This isn't a Covid legacy, it's a deliberate choice. We measure impact, not activity, and the data backs it up: remote employees perform just as well, if not better, with lower turnover. What we stand for is the freedom to choose.

Wakam, City side
Wakam UK is a team of nearly 40 people based right in the heart of the City. A fully-fledged insurer, authorized by the FCA and PRA, that does things differently.
Led by Mark Christer, the UK team operates with true autonomy: underwriting, claims, operations, and finance, everything is managed from London. It’s a close-knit team, firmly rooted in the British market, with the full strength of a European group behind it.
Wakam, Rue Réaumur
Wakam France is the group's historic headquarters, with around 220 Wakamees based in the heart of Paris' 2nd arrondissement. The original insurer, authorised by the ACPR, where it all started back in 1829.
Led by Alexandre Morillon, this is where the group's strategy is shaped and where our platform powers insurance products across 32 countries. A diverse, international team driving innovation from Paris, with a local culture that's anything but corporate.

Is there a remote working policy?
Remote working is one of the pillars of our culture at Wakam. All Wakamees have access to it, regardless of their role. On average, our employees come into the office 2 days a week, with the rest working remotely. The goal is simple: give everyone the flexibility they need to do their best work, while preserving moments of collaboration and team togetherness.
And to go even further, our Wakam From Anywhere programme allows every Wakamee to work from abroad. Because at Wakam, flexibility doesn't stop at borders.
-
Do we really use AI on a daily basis?
Yes, and it's not just a buzzword! At Wakam, AI is part of our everyday life. We use Dust, an AI agent platform deployed across the entire company. In practice, our teams use it to analyse data, automate repetitive tasks, accelerate decision-making and gain efficiency on a daily basis. The goal is not to replace people, but to allow every Wakamee to focus on what has the most value.
-
What does "Mission-driven company" actually mean?
Since 2021, Wakam has been a Société à mission under the French PACTE law. In practice, this means we have enshrined in our articles of association a purpose - "Making insurance transparent and impactful" - as well as social and environmental objectives that we commit to pursuing. An independent mission committee verifies each year that our actions are genuinely aligned with these commitments. This is not a marketing label: it is a legal and verifiable commitment. -
Are there internal mobility opportunities?
Yes! At Wakam, we actively encourage internal mobility. Open positions are shared internally and every Wakamee is welcome to put themselves forward. Whether it's a change of role, team or scope, we support employees who want to grow and develop within the company. Don't hesitate to bring it up with your manager or the HR team.
-
What does onboarding look like?
We support you from day one: structured onboarding, a dedicated buddy, and access to Wakam's tools and culture. The first few months are designed to help you find your footing without feeling overwhelmed.
-
Does Wakam hire junior profiles?
Yes. We welcome apprentices and interns, and many have joined Wakam on a permanent contract at the end of their placement. If you're curious, autonomous and action-driven, seniority is a matter of mindset, not years of experience.
-
How are career progression opportunities defined for each role?
At Wakam, career development is structured and transparent thanks to our internal framework: Wakam Pathways. Each role is positioned on a level scale that maps out progression opportunities, with clear expectations in terms of responsibilities, posture and skills for each level of each role. Two pathways are available and equally valued: the individual contributor track for those who want to deepen their expertise, and the management track for those who want to grow by leading teams. The result: every Wakamee knows exactly where they stand, what is expected of them, and what their next step could look like.
-
Is there a salary framework? How does it work?
Yes. At Wakam, compensation is structured through our internal framework: Wakam Pathways. Each level of each role corresponds to a salary range, built from market data. Salary decisions, both at hiring and during annual reviews, are based on this shared framework, ensuring fairness and consistency for all employees. The topic of salary is discussed from the very first conversation with our candidates.
